The New Jessie War Journal has moved.
In Administration on September 8, 2009 at 4:03 pmHey everyone,
The old New Jessie War Journal was ended by Metallicoe Keng today after some serious disagreements we had on the nature of running an online news source.
A new and improved one has been founded in its place.
Check it out at http://newjessie.wordpress.com/ and please be sure to update any bookmarks you might have used. The new address should be easier to remember anyway. We’re going to keep the familiar name and format and do our best to keep what works well while improving some of the problems the Journal had as well.
Metallicoe has also started a new news site, the Independent War Journal, and you can find more out about that below.

Hey guys,
The New Jessie War Journal is now the Independent Combat Journal. Check it out over here.

No more posts will be added to this URL. Be sure to update your bookmark!
This change has come about so the Journal can detach from New Jessie. The Independent is exactly that; Independent and not affiliated with any group. Just one of the reasons emerging was that Caine and New Jessie were being assosiated when a report was interpreted as controversial. This plans to end that.
See you on the Independent! Your new news source in the community.
Thanks, and apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Caine Constantine: A tribute.
In Administration on July 26, 2009 at 1:18 pmI’d like to highlight to the Journal readership that Caine’s last three articles were his last for publicly writing about this community. I’d like to hereafter thank Caine for his support in keeping the Journal going, and moving on to concentrate on making New Jessie a fine combat sim.
In lighter news, I plan to focus on the Journal more, now that Real Life issues have died down, and after Caine’s resignation.
I remember standing tall on the wall of the Task Force Marine’s headquarters, as an eager officer in Prize Delta, when I first proposed the idea of a combat publication for the community. Caine agreed it would be a smashing idea, and we moved from freebie site to blog, to notices, and finally resting on a secure domain and WordPress as our host. I’d like to thank the readers of the Journal for supporting our work, and making the near-impossible, possible.
I look forward to providing a greater service to the community. Of course, any help with contributing stories would be greatly appreciated. Even if you have an idea for a story, or a breaking piece of news. Please do let me know. Thank you!

Combat 101: An introduction.
In Administration on March 16, 2009 at 1:15 pmDear Readers,
While this upcoming series may cause discretion and criticism; it was not intended to. This series is, in actuality, intended to assist and aid new fighters, or even the experienced alike; on how Second Life combat works – a survival guide, if you will, and if the pun permits. As much as criticism will be easy to pick, we hope you’ll add in your views, tips and all else in the comments of each volume in the series.
Combat 101 is an upcoming series chronicling Second Life combat. It is to provide tips, information, history and show only a small portion of what the community has to offer. From fighting, to flying, to rules, to treaties, to militaries past and present, and to figures that have made it big in the community. We want to include it all.
If you’d consider yourself knowledgable on anything in the community, please do contact us so we can include your tips and information. While my own methods of combat and understanding may be lacking, more experienced individuals unlike myself can input their own into this series – think of it as a communities guide.
Regards,
Metallicoe
100 post milestone.
In Administration on February 11, 2009 at 1:45 amDear Readers,
Thanks to your continuous support, the Jessie War Journal has now published it’s 100th post since its founding last year. This is truly wonderful milestone for us on the team, as we’ve worked hard and it’s paid off. We hope it is as symbolic for you, too. With over 955 comments too, we’re really quite chuffed.
We plan to post more stories daily, publish more from upcoming reporters, and we’ve set the comments option to approve automatically if you’ve had a comment approved before. This should mean comments are posted much quicker, so discussions can be held much easier. We also are in the process of updating the wiki with electronic references of all military documents, and we are in the process of researching each militaries history. We really do hope the wiki can become very useful in easily reading sim rules, group information and research for new-comers to the scene. You can see how it’s going, here.
In the future, we also hope to support new and existing businesses, by publishing reviews and investigations into commerical military weapons and gear.
Thank you for your support, and we hope the Journal can contiue to be a central point in the community for discussion, free speech, debate and news. Remember to keep visiting New Jessie Combat too, for continuous updates to the sim.
Regards,
The Jessie War Journal Team

Merczateers provides Holiday Gift Pack for community.
In Administration on December 10, 2008 at 2:14 pmBy Anthony Lehane
Hey everyone, Anthony Lehane here.
The SL Military community sure can be a odd one. After nearly four years of being a prominent member I know that all to well. This December hopefully I’d like to make a little sense of it, and what better time to do so than the Holidays?
Sadly, we bicker, we fight, and disagree. Some of us try hard to unify the community, but some of us are detremental to it. This community is so dynamic and complicated that it’s inevidable. However if you look at this logically, forget all of the complicated bits – it is vital to understand that we all belong to a family, as it takes a certain person to truly appreciate what combat in Second Life allows us to make possible.
Behind the monitors we are all human beings who enjoy what we do here in Second Life, and it is this common interest that puts us on the same side at the end of the day. I urge you to consider that this underlying camaraderie means we should never engage one another with the intent to harm, humiliate, and destroy, but rather to appreciate our fellow combatants that make this community possible. But I will save the rest of this for another day.
This December myself and many Merczateers took the initiative to put together a rather large Holiday Gift Pack, to distribute to all in appreciation of this community. The Holidays bring people together, and it should here as well.
The Gift Pack we’ve put together contains well over a hundred items, all of high quality, and many of which were made specifically for the pack. Inside you’ll find anything from a fully scripted TIE Fighter to a fully sculpted Pimp Suit, complete with cane.
The vendors to collect the items will be placed at popular public places for our community. You can be sure to find one at New Jessie and the Merczateers hub at Salamis. We will be also making an effort to place them in other group’s headquarters if we are given permission to do so.
You can benefit the community yourself this Holiday Season too. Next time you fight one of your adversaries, after the fight IM them. Tell them you appreciate the fight, good game, and you look forward to the next time you can do it again, and mean it. Even if you are not in the Iron Symphony, you can still make efforts to unify this torn community.
Thank you for reading, and happy holidays!

[Poll] Which military holds the spammiest weapons?
In Administration on November 30, 2008 at 5:53 amSorry about the lack of a poll last week, there were some issues with the host. However, we’re back with another drama-erupting poll, and don’t hold back on the comments!
Which military holds the spammiest weapons?
Check out the ‘Statistics’ link at the top of this page to vote for the military you think has the spammiest weapons.
Thank you all, and remember to tell others of the Journal. We are also still looking for stories, and the competition is still open to win 1000L$ worth of prizes. Email your stories, long or short, to metallicoegears@googlemail.com for the chance of winning this Christmas.
[Results] Which military has the most unfair base and sim rules for the attackers?
In Administration on November 18, 2008 at 3:55 pmWe’ve had our most successful poll yet churning in around 200 votes. The question was set to determine what readers thought was the most unfair base for attackers. This meant both physical and the morals behind the militaries rules. This included how fair rules were, and how fair or unfair the base is layed out. Heres the results;

The Conclusion.
Seemingly, the Guerillas hold the toughest base to attack. However, if i may insert my own opinion, i think their base is quite fun to attack. Admittedly, the river surrounding it does hold a minor inconvenience to the attacking force, but all the jungle foliage and temple make it rather enjoying. Anyway, coming in sharp second appears to be Alliance Navy. Since their rebuild of the two towers, yes, it has been marginally more difficult, however, once inside the compound, its serves as a thrill to hide in an office and call it your own, shooting at any that try and take it from you. I have heard rumours that Alliance Navy will be changing their base to a spacey one soon, but i doubt that will materialise. With Mercz and Ordo coming next, that is understandable as they seem to filter the enemy through their defences to the awaiting chainguns and MP5’s. Then, Sparta, 2142 and Vanguard (Now Disbanded) Yes, 2142 filter much like the others, with their large bridge and kill prim infested river. Sparta however have a nice base in my eyes, but that may be my bias opinion.

The Journal Awards.
In Administration on November 17, 2008 at 4:21 pmSometime in late 2009, the Jessie Journal hopes to host an award event. This event will congratulate and commemorate all those who have been successful and productive towards the military community. These will include scripters, builders, commanders, individual militaries, alliances and even individual fighters.
Although this could cause some friction, we will award every military with at lease one event. The event will have an optional ticket fee with a reccomended price of around 100L$, all of which will go to a Real Life charity.
If you would consider attending this charity event please vote below.
[Drama News] AN Hub killing conclusion.
In Administration on November 16, 2008 at 9:13 amAfter exploring into the matter further, i think we should lay off AN. They were merely trying to protect thier sim’s security. Two guys arrive in the hub, sim crashes – what do you expect them to think?! And, if Arvid was a sim-crasher he would have crashed the sim by the time the AN personnel IMed him, so it seems this was the only option. From the poll, i can see that 58% of readers thought they were too extreme to hub kill, however, as 2142’s sim went down at the same time, there could have been some major SL issues, as this has been a very bad week for SL’s servers anyway with all the teleporting issues and other sim crashed. If investigation continues on this subject and more points are raised, i will publish another update.
[Poll Results] Which military on the grid is the most laggiest to fight?
In Administration on November 14, 2008 at 6:08 pmAnother successful poll. We had a total of 105 voters. And some interesting results;
The results
Guerilla Rebels 29 28%Vanguard 21 21%Alliance Navy 11 11%Merczateers 11 11%Ordo 10 10%Sparta 5 5%39th Black Watch 4 4%2142 3 3%Dominatium 3 3%Other (see below) 3 3%Chthonic Syndicate 1 1%Commando SL (CSL) 1 1%
The Conclusion
So, the Guerilla Rebels are deemed the most laggiest to fight. I was told that they use too many rezzers in there guns, and i suppose this is remotly proven to be the case! Please comment to express your opinion.
[Results] Which military is the most ‘ban-happy’?
In Administration on November 13, 2008 at 8:23 amOnce again, we’ve had another very successful poll, with a fantastic feedback of over 100 readers. Here’s what the results were;
The results
Sparta – 33% (34)
39th – 13% (14)
Dominatium – 11% (11)
Guerillas – 11% (11)
CSL – 10% (10)
Vanguard – 9% (9)
Mercz – 4% (4)
MC – 4% (4)
Ordo – 4% (4)
AN – 1% (1)
Echelon – 1% (1)
The Conclusion
So, Sparta are deemed the most ban-happy by our readers. Bruno has posted comments on this so you should check those out on the page. I was quite surprised that Dominatium got so many votes, as they are no way as near active as other major militaries in SL. Personally, i was surprised at the count for CSL, but they may have changed since i last visited. Thank again to all who voted, and remember to vote on our next poll; Which military is the most laggiest to fight?
[Poll Results] Which military faction do you hold a stero-typical view to as being ‘Cheaters’?
In Administration on November 12, 2008 at 8:20 amWe would like to thank everybody that participated in our poll on the statistics page. In total, 153 people voted, giving us a fantastic range and median of answers. (Well, not really, look at the results!)
The Results.
Vanguard – 56% (83)
Guerilla Rebels – 8% (12)
Sparta – 5% (8)
Alliance Navy – 5% (7)
CSL – 5% (7)
Ordo – 5% (7)
2142 – 3% (5)
Mercz – 3% (5)
39th – 3% (4)
CS – 1% (2)
EU – 1% (2)
MC – 1% (1)
The Conclusion.
So, over 50% of all who voted thought that VG was the military that cheated the most, with the Rebels coming in second place with a measly 8%. I was quite amazed to find out that Vanguard received 83 votes, not to be bias as being in a military that is allied with Vanguard, i have never witnessed any of them cheating. So, you can express your further opinion on the votes by leaving us a comment below. Thanks to all, and our new poll is posted; Which military is the most ‘ban-happy’?
